Use of this site and the information contained herein does not create a doctor-patient relationship. Always seek the direct advice of your own doctor in connection with any questions or issues you may have regarding your own health or the health of others. Did you have thick, long, and luscious hair during your pregnancy, but now, in postpartum, it’s falling out? What’s going on? Is this normal? Will it grow back? While two newborns might make you feel like pulling your hair out, you are most likely experiencing postpartum hair loss (or excessive shedding of hair after giving birth). This is a common postpartum condition, but it’s one of the most concerning for new moms. No need to worry or stress. We took your most asked questions to board-certified dermatologist and mom of three, Dr. Fatima Fahs MD, FAAD, A.K.A. The Dermy Doctor (@dermy_doctor). Here is what she had to say about all things hair, skin, nails, and mommying! Q: When does postpartum hair loss begin?  A: Postpartum hair loss is a type of hair loss we call “telogen effluvium.” This is when more than 5%-10% of the hairs on the scalp abruptly shift into the resting phase of the hair cycle, where they fall out. Telogen effluvium can be triggered by major stress on the body, such as childbirth. It takes about three months from the onset of the trigger (childbirth) for the shedding to begin. Most women begin to notice hair shedding about three months postpartum. This can continue until six to nine months postpartum, usually subsiding completely before your babies’ first birthday. Q: Does everyone get postpartum hair loss?  A: Most women experience some degree of postpartum hair loss, but the severity can definitely differ. I always tell patients that the good news is this type of hair loss is temporary, and although it may feel like you’re going bald, you won’t. Even though the majority of postpartum hair loss is just a waiting game, it’s important to make sure that things are adequate from a nutritional standpoint, so don’t hesitate to see your doctor for a thorough evaluation.  Q: Do prenatal vitamins help with postpartum hair loss? A: Keeping your nutrition right is super important for nourishing healthy hair and scalp. I tell my patients to make sure to take their prenatal vitamins during pregnancy and the postpartum period. There are tons of nutritional shifts, especially with weight gain followed by weight loss and if a mom is breastfeeding. Q: Does your hair also fall out during pregnancy? A: Most women experience hair growth during pregnancy instead of hair loss due to the change in hormones. These hormones promote the “anagen,” or the growth phase of the hair cycle. On a healthy scalp, about 90% of our hairs are in the growth cycle. 5%-10% are in the resting phase, which leads to shedding. This is why it’s normal to lose anywhere from 50-150 hairs per day (the hairs that are in the resting phase at any given time). It’s possible to experience hair loss in pregnancy, although this is not as common. Q: How to prevent hair loss during pregnancy? A: Hair loss during pregnancy is not common. However, if you are experiencing it, it could be due to internal conditions like iron deficiency anemia or thyroid disease. To reduce the risks of experiencing hair loss in pregnancy, it’s important to have routine blood work screening tests done in your first trimester to check for these conditions and more. Sometimes, patients require iron supplementation or additional medications to regulate thyroid function. Hair loss can also be related to increased stress during pregnancy. Or poor nutritional intake, especially if you’re experiencing hyperemesis gravidarum (also known as HG). For more information on HG, please visit the American Pregnancy Association. Q: Will I lose more hair if I’m pregnant with twins? A: We don’t have evidence to say this occurs more or less frequently with twins. It’s reassuring to know that postpartum hair loss is only a temporary condition that is not increased by a multiple pregnancy. It’s annoying and frustrating for a bit, but it’s all worth it for those twinnies! If you’re concerned with the amount of hair loss or the duration in which it persists, always speak with your provider. Thankfully, postpartum hair loss after twins or triplets is not any worse than if it was just a singleton pregnancy. Placenta Position: Not all are the Same https://www.twiniversity.com/placenta-position-not-all-are-the-same/ Tue, 02 Jan 2024 10:30:00 +0000 https://www.twiniversity.com/?p=175479 All content on this website, including medical opinions and any other health-related information, is for informational purposes only and should not be considered to be a specific diagnosis or treatment plan for any individual situation. Use of this site and the information contained herein does not create a doctor-patient relationship. Always seek the direct advice of your own doctor in connection with any questions or issues you may have regarding your own health or the health of others. Ah, the placenta—a squishy, mysterious companion accompanying you during pregnancy. But what on earth is this fascinating organ? Picture a superhero sidekick tucked inside your uterus, supporting your growing twinnies. So, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty of the placenta, shall we? What’s a Placenta, Anyway? The placenta is your body’s baby whisperer. It’s the life-support system for your little ones, providing oxygen and nutrients, passing immunity from you to your babies, making hormones, and filtering out the not-so-great stuff. Isn’t that just magical? Your body is not only growing humans but also a whole new organ – or two – to support that life! The placenta begins to form after the fertilized eggs implant in your uterus (around seven to 10 days after conception). It attaches to the uterus wall in a few possible positions, and the umbilical cord connects the baby to it. It continues to grow throughout your pregnancy to support your babies.  It looks like a flat, round disc of blood vessels and tissue. In fact, I like to think it resembles a tree – a tree of life. It has two sides. The side attached to your uterus is deep red/blue and the side closest to your babies is gray. On average, a single placenta weighs one pound and is about 10 inches long. Double the Babies, Double the Placentas? When it comes to multiples, the number of placentas you have can vary. You might have one placenta per baby or a joint placenta for the gang.  The number of placentas hints at whether the twins are identical (from the same egg) or fraternal (from separate eggs). It can get confusing, but the first word in the type of twins you have (i.e., MoDi, DiDi, or MoMo) reveals how many placentas you have. Dichorionic means two placentas, and monochorionic means one placenta. Though new research suggests that 30% of DiDi pregnancies can be identical, most twins with dichorionic placentas are fraternal, while twins with a monochorionic placenta can be identical or fraternal. You then need to access the sac situation – diamniotic, two sacs, or monoamniotic, one sac – to determine whether your twins are identical or fraternal. Because monochoronic twins share one placenta, they may face certain complications due to unequal sharing of blood, blood volume, or placental nutrients, like twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), selective intrauterine growth restriction of one twin (sIUGR), twin anemia polycythemia sequence (TAPS), and twin reversed arterial perfusion (TRAP). The 4 Placenta Positions There isn’t just one textbook position your placenta(s) will be in. Even singleton pregnancies can have any of the placenta positions listed below. With dichorionic twin pregnancies, you can even have each placenta in a different position!  While the positioning can have a large impact on our pregnancies, we, unfortunately, have zero control over where the placenta(s) put down roots. Position #1: Anterior Meet the “front-row center” position! An anterior placenta cozies up against your belly’s front wall, often cushioning those adorable kicks and jabs your baby delivers. An anterior placenta does not cause any health problems for you or your baby, but it can also present some challenges. Women with anterior placentas often feel less movement from their babies and/or will feel the first kicks later in the pregnancy than most. It can also be more challenging to find heartbeats on a doppler. And with an anterior placenta, the bump might strut its stuff fashionably late. But with two in there, you don’t need to worry about that! Position #2: Posterior Now, flip the script. The posterior placenta takes a fancy backseat, hugging your spine. This location sometimes results in a more “in-your-face” feeling of the baby’s acrobatics and gives ultrasound techs a clearer view. This is the most common placenta position. Position #3: Fundal Hello, penthouse! The fundal placenta claims the top spot, perched high and mighty near the uterus’s crown, granting baby room to groove. This placenta position is one of the most common and rarely causes concern. Position #4: Low-Lying or Placenta Previa In about 1 in 200 pregnant women, the placenta might attach to the lower area of the uterus, preferring to camp out close to the cervix. When this happens, it’s called a low-lying placenta or placenta previa. While deemed “rare,” it’s more common in twin and triplet pregnancies. Unfortunately, researchers aren’t quite sure what causes this positioning. Sometimes, it sets the stage for a rollercoaster ride of cautious monitoring and bed rest prescriptions, though it’s more common early in pregnancy and might resolve as the uterus grows. Otherwise, your doctor will likely recommend a C-section as this magical organ is blocking the exit! BONUS Position: Lateral The lateral placenta is fairly uncommon, even in singleton pregnancies, but worth mentioning. A lateral placenta grows on the right or left wall of your uterus. Studies have shown this placement can contribute to a higher risk of our dreaded preeclampsia. So, What’s Your Placenta(s)’ Position? Ultrasounds are your backstage pass to peek behind the curtain and know all about its position and behavior. Your ultrasound tech and/or doctor can determine your placenta(s) positioning with a quick scan. This is typically evaluated at your 20-week anatomy scan, though with the increased monitoring and scans that multiple pregnancies bring, you’ll likely find out your positioning sooner. It’s important to note that your placenta(s) positioning can change throughout your pregnancy as your uterus expands. Most placentas end up fundal by 32 weeks. My Tale of Two Placentas During my pregnancy with my fraternal twin girls, I had… Continue Reading Placenta Position: Not all are the Same

An experience gift is about creating memories that will stick around longer than a physical gift ever could. So, if you want your chosen experience to hit the right notes and not break the bank, check out these user-friendly tips for finding that ideal experience gift. Set a Budget Determine a budget range that you’re comfortable with before starting your search. This will help narrow down your options and prevent overspending. Consider Their Interests Think about their hobbies, passions, and interests. Whether they love adventure, relaxation, food, or art, tailor the experience to match their preferences. Quality Over Quantity Instead of focusing on the cost or extravagance of the experience, prioritize the quality of the activity. A meaningful and well-thought-out experience is often more appreciated than a lavish but generic one. These tips can enhance the thoughtfulness of your gift and demonstrate that you have invested time and consideration into it, ultimately adding more meaning to the gift. Gift Experience Ideas $50 – $200 Gift Ideas Specialized Lesson Do your kids have a secret talent they want to pursue? Or an activity they have always wanted to try? Why not give them it for Christmas (odds are it will last longer than that Nerf gun they just had to have!)?  There are so many options to choose from: cooking classes, indoor skydiving, art workshops, horseback riding, surfing, musical instruments, Karate, glassblowing, etc. Whatever your kids love to do, you’re bound to find a specialized lesson, class, or workshop that is right up their alley. Ski Passes Do you live near a ski hill or in proximity to one? A skiing/snowboarding pass is an excellent way to introduce kids to winter sports. The feeling of gliding down the slopes, surrounded by snow-covered mountains, is both exhilarating and serene. It’s an adventure that promotes outdoor fun and physical fitness. Plus, most ski resorts offer classes for beginners. I’ve taken more than I can count and learn more every time, so it would be a great activity for the whole family! Concert Tickets Your first concert is something you never forget! Whether it’s Taylor Swift, Imagine Dragons, or the Trans- Siberian Orchestra, the excitement of attending a concert can be a cherished memory for years to come. Remember to keep your selections age-appropriate (this isn’t the 80s anymore)! They even have shows for the younger kiddos, like Disney on Ice, Sesame Street Live, or Bluey’s Big Play. $200-$500 Gift Ideas Hot Air Balloon Ride Hot air balloon rides make a great experience gift for Christmas! Imagine the look on your loved one’s face when they open their gift to find an adventure of a lifetime in store for them! Hot air balloon rides offer incredible views of the landscape below as you soar high above the ground. With hot air balloons, you can explore the skies and experience a sense of freedom that comes with being far up in the air. A hot air balloon ride is an experience that will leave a lasting impression. Fishing Trip Want to teach your twinnies patience, concentration, and appreciation for nature? A fishing trip might be just the catch! There are many options available: salmon fishing in Alaska, deep-sea fishing off the coast of Florida, or fly fishing in Montana. But fishing trips aren’t just about catching fish; they’re about the joy of reeling in a big one and spending quality time together. And let’s not forget the fish tales they’ll be sharing for years to come. Overnight Adventure Whether it’s a camping trip or a hotel stay, an overnight adventure is the perfect opportunity to spend time together and make some memories. Whatever venue you choose will come with its own activities and adventures. My husband’s family used to have “staycations” at nearby hotels so they could experience the hotel’s luxury and take advantage of the amenities (hello, pool!).  $500+ Gift ideas Helicopter Tour Take to the skies on a private helicopter tour. Take in an aerial perspective of iconic landmarks, breathtaking landscapes, or cityscapes. The kids will love pointing out their house, their school, and all their favorite places from up above! Weekend at a Family-Friendly Resort Spend a whole weekend together as a family and have a lot of fun doing it at a family-friendly resort. How grand you make this adventure is really up to you! You can take a destination trip or head to a resort within driving distance of you. The whole family will love either choice! Family Cruise A family cruise is a luxurious experience with a variety of activities and destinations. Seeing Double: Movies with Twins https://www.twiniversity.com/seeing-double-movies-with-twins/ Tue, 29 Aug 2023 10:30:00 +0000 https://www.twiniversity.com/?p=169812 Seeing twins is like seeing a magical creature. People are drawn to twins! They are fascinated by them and love to ask stupid questions about them (are your boy-girl twins identical?)! And Hollywood is no different. Filmmakers love to incorporate twins in their movies, some actual twins and some so-called “twins.” Because Twiniversity is all about everything twinnie, we’ve compiled a list of movies featuring twin actors and movies about twins (where the actors aren’t twins at all) for your viewing pleasure. Check out these twin-winning movies. So don’t panic if you start seeing double! Movies with Real Twins Harry Potter You know and love these two red-haired twins, Fred and George Weasley (aka identical twins James and Oliver Phelps) from Harry Potter. Fred and George are the Hogwarts pranksters, telling hilarious jokes, creating chaos within the school, and being a nuisance to the Hogwarts professors. They appear in all 8 movies and can be streamed now on MAX. Olsen Twin Movies (1992-2004) Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen could arguably be the most recognized twins in the 90s to early 2000s. It all started on Full House but certainly didn’t end there. If you are up for one heck of a movie marathon, there are at least 19 movies in the Olsen Twins franchise. I remember absolutely loving these movies as a kid. With so many different adventures, there’s something for everyone, from “You’re Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley’s Camping Party” to “Billboard Dad.” Check out their entire library of movies: You can stream most of these on Prime Video (some do require a rental fee) Legally Blondes (2009) In this spinoff of the ever-so-popular Legally Blonde, twin sisters and cousins of Elle Woods, played by Camilla and Rebecca Rosso, real identical twins from the UK, move from England to California and must defend themselves when they’re framed for a crime. A great one for teens and pre-teens! Stream now on YouTube. The Shining (1980) World-renowned horror film The Shining, based on Stephen King’s novel of the same title, iconically features a pair of twins that were murdered in the Overlook Hotel and whose ghosts are witnessed by 5-year-old Danny. These twins were played by real-life twins Louise and Lisa Burns. Although they spend very little time actually on screen, The Shining twins are imprinted in our minds as the creepy twins. You can stream The Shining on Apple TV. The Suite Life Movie (2011) How could we not mention Dylan and Cole Sprouse? Some of us know them best as Ben, the son of Ross on Friends (some of us are older than the rest of us). Others know them from their Disney Channel success in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody & The Suite Life on Deck. The famous fraternal twin brothers, built on their television series success, and made movies based on their characters. Check out “The Suite Life Movie” where you will see the twin brothers participate in a massive scientific project studying the effects of twins. Available to stream on Disney+. Big Daddy (1999) Big Daddy is another movie featuring America’s favorite fraternal twin brothers, Dylan and Cole Sprouse. Except this time, they play a dual role of one 5-year-old (which is rare for a fraternal set). In this movie, he’s “adopted” by Adam Sandler’s character to impress his ex-girlfriend. Watch now on Prime Movies. Twitches (2005) Remember Tia and Tamara Mowry from Sister, Sister? They come together again in this Disney original tween and teen Halloween movie. After realizing they are twins and they both possess magical powers, they work together to fight “the darkness” and save their home dimension. This movie has something for you and something for your kids. And when you finish Twitches, check out Twitches Too! Both are available to stream on Disney+. Baby Geniuses (1999) In this family comedy, scientists believe that babies are born with universal knowledge and speak a secret “baby talk.” This film involves quite the adventure of smart, independent babies and another story of swapped twins, except this time the twins are played by real-life triplets! Currently for rent on Prime Video or Apple TV. Movies with “So-Called Twins” Parent Trap (1998) If there was one movie in this bunch that could be defined as the poster child for movies with twins, it would be The Parent Trap. In this classic, identical twin sisters, both played by the same actress, Hallie Mills or Lindsey Lohan (depending on what version you are watching), were separated after their parents’ divorce. They meet for the first time at summer camp and set out with a plan to switch places for the opportunity to get to know the other parent and eventually get them back together. Both versions are available on Disney+. Big Business (1988) This 80s film features not one, but TWO sets of identical twins, which are played by two actresses, Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin. They’re swapped at birth by an overworked nurse and raised as fraternal twins. The two sister pairs get caught in a business feud, saving the separated-at-birth reunion for the very end. Stream now on Disney+. Twins (1988) Clearly, a separated-at-birth story is the classic twin plot. Releasing the same year as Big Business, this classic film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito as unlikely fraternal twin brothers living very different lives and follows through their reunion journey. Available to rent on Prime Movies or Apple TV. Father Figures (2017) In this comedy, fraternal twin brothers, played by Owen Wilson and Ed Helms, learn that their mother has been lying to them for years about their father. Join them as they take a road trip to find their birth father. With these two actors, it’s hard for this film not to be hilarious! Rent now on Prime Movies or Apple TV. Jack and Jill (2011) Calling all Adam Sandler fans! Jack and Jill is a hilarious family comedy about a twin brother and sister, both played by Adam Sandler. These twins couldn’t be… Continue Reading Seeing Double: Movies with Twins

Must See Stroller Combo for Twins https://www.twiniversity.com/must-see-stroller-combo-for-twins/ Mon, 31 Jul 2023 10:30:00 +0000 https://www.twiniversity.com/?p=163797 Twins are a double blessing, but double anything can surely hit your wallet hard! Well, thanks to Baby Trend, they just made the whole double thing a whole lot more affordable! Check out their Sit N’ Stand 2.0 Double Stroller paired with two Baby Trend EZ-Lift 35 Plus Car Seats below. This is definitely a must see stroller and car seat combo for twins, plus enter to win your own! Finding a stroller that’s compatible with car seats can be a challenge. Not spending an arm and a leg on the combo can be even more difficult! Baby Trend is here to save the day with the Baby Trend Sit N’ Stand 2.0 Double stroller paired with two compatible EX-Lift 35 Plus Car Seats. Keep reading to learn all about this must-see stroller combo for twins. Baby Trend = Compatibility In the early stages, outings with the twins (like doctor appointments or grocery shopping) are a lot easier if you can leave your babies in their car seats and pop the car seats into a stroller rather than carrying two infant seats. But it can be a challenge finding car seats that are compatible with the stroller you pick. This is where our friends at Baby Trend deliver! The Baby Trend Sit N’ Stand 2.0 Double stroller is compatible with four of their car seat models — Secure-Lift 35, EZ-Lift 35 PRO, EZ-Lift 35 Plus, and the EZ-Lift 35.  We chose the EZ-Lift 35 Plus car seats to pair with the Sit N’ Stand 2.0 Double stroller. This pair is one of the best car seat stroller combos. The EZ-Lift 35 Plus Car Seats These car seats are shockingly light! They’re one of the lightest car seats on the market at only 7.5 pounds (without the base), making them easy to carry and mobility. Details The EZ-Lift 35 Plus is designed for babies between 4 lbs to 35 pounds. Completely suitable for preemies (cue sigh of relief), with a maximum height of 32 inches. The head and body padding is very thick and plush. However, the outside material is made from polyester and could be softer for babies’ skin. The EZ-Lift 35 Plus comes with a multi-position car base and is also extremely light and easy to install. The base features a bubble level indicator, flip foot recline, and Latch connectors. What We Love The best part of the EZ-Lift 35 Plus is how easy it is to click in and out of the Sit N’ Stand 2.0 Double stroller. No attachment is needed to secure the infant seat to the stroller, and it takes nearly zero effort to lift and click in. Plus, the car seats feel very secure when locked into this stroller. I love the direction in which they click in. Unlike many double strollers, the car seats face the parent, so you’re able to see both babies at the same time while pushing the stroller. And removing the car seats is a piece of cake, too. Simply remove them the same way you’d remove a car seat from the base with the button on the back. As an added bonus, the EZ-Lift 35 Plus car seats include a side handle for an ergonomic grip. This grip is recommended by chiropractors for reducing back strain. Talk about helping a twin mom out. Carrying two babies is hard enough on our backs, thanks, Baby Trend! And if that wasn’t enough, the handle of the car seat acts as an anti-rebound bar to limit rotation in the event of a collision when in the forward position. Sit N’ Stand 2.0 Double Stroller You’ll want a stroller that will grow with your family, and when your infants grow to toddlers, you can continue using the Sit N Stand 2.0 Double. There are multiple riding choices for newborns, infants, and toddlers. When your babies are out of the infant car seat, they will utilize the forward-facing seats. When they become busy, the rear seat can be converted to a bench for standing mode for toddlers. Keep in mind there are weight and age recommendations for each variation: Features The Sit N’ Stand 2.0 Double stroller has a lot to offer with an attractive sales price. Let’s talk about all the features. Size First up, let’s talk size. When picking a double stroller, you have two options: side-by-side or tandem (aka one-behind-the-other). Depending on which option you choose, you may be limited on where you can take your stroller. Side-by-side may not fit through the doorway, and tandem can be hard to maneuver through narrow aisles. I went with the tandem choice. With a tandem set-up, the Sit N Stand 2.0 Double will get you everywhere you need to go at only 22.63″ wide. Fighting doorways is a thing of the past! Storage Storage is always a big concern with strollers. Babies require a lot of stuff. Twins require double the amount, so ample storage is a must! Each seat has a snack track with a removable cup holder. Parents have their own tray, too! Complete with two cup holders (it’s like they know twin moms need 2 cups of coffee) and a phone holder- ideal for catching up on Twiniversity YouTube videos on your walk. Beneath the stroller, you’ll find a large basket with mesh sides that has plenty of space for your diaper bag backpack and more. It’s accessible from both the front and the back of the stroller. There isn’t a mesh cover in front of the basket, so be sure not to overfill, or you might lose some items. Seating Safety first, both seats have a 5-point child restraint safety harness with push-button release and easily recline for babies’ comfort using straps located behind each seat. Each seat has a canopy for those sunny days, and they are removable. However, the rear seat’s canopy is larger and has a mesh peekaboo window. Each seat also has a footrest for safety and comfort. Steering The large single-front wheels… Continue Reading Must See Stroller Combo for Twins

About Twiniversity https://www.twiniversity.com/about-twiniversity/ https://www.twiniversity.com/about-twiniversity/#comments Thu, 30 Jan 2014 02:01:06 +0000 http://www.twiniversity.com/?page_id=15143 The #1 Resource & Support Network for Parents of Twins After Natalie Diaz had her twins in 2004, she was shocked by the lack of resources available to families of multiples. Magazines, websites, and television shows all seemed to focus on “singleton” families. As a full-time mom, Natalie vowed that once her twins started Kindergarten, if no one had started giving twin families access to more information, she would do it herself. So proudly in the fall of 2009, after no one had organized twin parents, Natalie got on a soapbox and started a twin parenting revolution called Twiniversity. She wanted to make ONE website that parents of multiples could turn to for information and community. With the mission of connecting, educating and making parents see the comical side of having twins, Twiniversity succeeds tenfold. Now reaching over 2 million families a year in over 150 countries, Twiniversity is the largest global resource for all things “twinnie”. With worldwide recognition in her field, Natalie Diaz brings her twin parenting expertise to our online resource, our podcasts, our live and online expecting twins classes, our social media channels, our Twiniversity App, and her bestselling book “What To Do When You’re Having Two“, the #1 bestseller on Amazon for Twins & Multiples Parenting. Nat hasn’t done it alone; with her Mom Squad at her side, Twiniversity is supporting our families 24/7. The Mom Squad Natalie Diaz, CLC, CPST The Big Cheese. Founder. Author. Group Publisher. Dishwasher Slayer. Cat Midwife. Natalie@Twiniversity.com 917.442.2020 Natalie Diaz is the Pied Piper of twin families around the globe. Founding Twiniversity — the world’s leading support network for multiple birth families — in 2009, she’s become the global influencer for this small niche community. Reaching over a million families a week through Twiniversity’s Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and YouTube channels, moms and dads of twins flock to Twiniversity to find resources, ask questions, explore new products, and find community and support from other twin parents. Natalie is a true connector, bringing parents from all walks of life together, breaking past cultural differences, to share in the highs and lows of parenting twins. Natalie’s book, “What To Do When You’re Having Two” is a global bestseller in Twins & Multiples Parenting. Natalie is a Certified Lactation Counselor and a Child Passenger Safety Technician. Lauren Oak, CLC, Certified Doula, Zoom Meeting Leader Lauren Oak is a NY mom to 4 girls, including one set of twins. Lauren has been a part of Twiniversity from the very beginning after she met Natalie at a New York State Mother of Twins Club meeting. She really connected with her fellow twin parents after spending 20 days in the NICU with her twins when they were born. In her “previous life” she was a Foster Care Caseworker, helping children in foster care find stable homes, as well as helping parents work through their issues surrounding their children being placed into Foster Care. Lauren has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science and a Master’s degree in School Counseling. Lauren continues to support families, just now it’s families having twins or more across the globe. Lauren is a certified doula living on Long Island, specializing in twins. She has been described as “human Xanax”, as well as “the postpartum Mary Poppins” by some of her doula clients. Lauren is also a Certified Lactation Counselor.  Emilee Schock, Chaos Coordinator Emilee@Twiniversity.com Emilee Schock lives in Minnesota with her husband, Irish twins, Max and Alex, her two cats and her two dogs. Her favorite part of Twiniversity is helping provide resources for MoM’s prep for the arrival or their twinnies. Laura Birks, Facebook Manager and Content Creator Laura@Twiniversity.com Laura Birks is a freelance writer and essayist. She lives in New Jersey with her twin boys, a dog, a couple of cats and a husband. When she’s not doling out medicine or cleaning up vomit, she is writing. Her house is in a constant state of disarray and the laundry is never put away. She likes to pretend she is superwoman but the truth is, she is a mere mortal with a messy house. But she’s a superhero to us! Find her on Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. Amanda Hadley, Instagram Manager and Content Creator Amanda@Twiniversity.com Amanda Hadley lives in Salt Lake City, Utah with her husband of 14 years, their 10-year-old singleton, and 6-year-old boy/girl twins. She is the teller of truths (especially about motherhood), the finder of all that is lost (except her sanity), the housekeeper, cook, chauffeur, and laundry mat. Her talents include producing litters of children at one time and smashing her finger in anything. She is the wizard behind the Twiniversity Instagram and has been a contributing writer for 5 years. She loves naps, puppies, sun, and Atlanta Braves baseball. Stephanie Adam, Facebook Manager Twiniversitystephanie@gmail.com Stephanie Adam lives in California with her husband and two fiery red headed twins. She is in charge of the Facebook flow and management for Twiniversity. One of her biggest passions since becoming a mom of multiples is to connect with other twin parents and help bring a sense of normalcy and humor to some of the struggles twin parents face! In the twin world, life isn’t always a box of chocolates… sometimes we have to laugh when it melts and we sit on it! In her free time, she enjoys wine tasting with her friends on a sunny day, taking her boys to the park, and spending time with her husband outdoors. She believes that being a twin parent is one of the most wild things she’s ever done, but at the same time, the most magical. Kylee Burleigh, Marketing and Outreach Advisor Kylee@Twiniversity.com Kylee Burleigh lives in Washington State and effortlessly juggles multiple roles while embracing the chaos of a vibrant family life.
